Lavie by Claude Kameni debuted at NYFW with a bang and a pop (of color). The Spring/Summer 2021 collection reflects designer Claude Kameni’s Cameroonian roots in the intricate fabrics and especially the color scheme – green, pink, and yellow (which is very similar to the Cameroonian flag which is green, red, and gold). Based in Los Angeles, California, Claude was able to put on a socially distanced show filmed on the rooftop of Spring Place in Beverly Hills. The sunny, warm, and welcoming environment and skyline mirrored CK’s luxe designs.
Bell sleeves and exquisitely-tailored two-piece sets dotted the collection but the standout was the final look, a cascading green and gold asymmetrical gown with a mini dress in the front and a graceful train in the back. Donned by a fearlessly strutting model, CK was sure to choose models who could easily evoke the vibe of her pieces: luxury, elegance, and vibrance.
Not one to leave anyone out, CK offers suits for both women and men. From leisure suits to structured suits, there is a look for every style and taste.
The collection features five different prints which each uniquely compliments the wearers’ skin. The pink and green prints (similar to chevron) highlight the natural bronze undertones of the wearer while the neutral brown prints allow for a glowy orange undertone to peak through.
Claude has been sketching, drawing, and dreaming up designs since she was 8-years-old. What a magnificent milestone it must be to finally have a New York Fashion Week debut!
