Amy took the time to walk each guest through her line describing the details of the intricate design process, her inspirations, and even giving styling suggestions. Amy lovingly calls each piece “her baby” as she gingerly fingers the luscious vegan leather, delicate yet elaborate necklines, and adorned petaled sleeves (they actually look like flowers).

Amy says the faux fur jackets catch the most attention when she wears them out as most onlookers assume it is real fur due to the quality and look – they are pleasantly surprised when Amy tells them otherwise. Each Amy Heart Couture piece is made from materials that are ethically sourced and do no harm to animals. For example, this mini dress and matching duster set features ostrich feathers from a farm that breeds the statuesque birds rather than killing them for their precious feathers.
When asked about the use of furs and animal-based materials in the fashion industry, Amy said, “I had a real problem with the way that we were doing things, especially with the fur. I think a lot of people are unconscious and I don’t think they mean to be but I don’t think they realize what happens to these animals.” When faced with the cruelty and pain animals experience because of the fashion industry, Amy knew she could do her part. “I thought I could make these beautiful couture pieces that these amazing women would feel luxurious in, and not harm animals.”
Amy’s design process gathered inspiration from her fabulous friends, her love of animals, and her understanding of women and their needs. Each piece is multifunctional like this blouse that can be worn with an elegant maxi skirt for a refined look or paired with denim jeans and stiletto for a chic yet sexy look.
