Carrie Bradshaw took viewers on a real estate adventure in the sixth episode of the acclaimed remake. Still depressed following Mr. Big’s death, Carrie decides to start over by purchasing a new apartment. She chooses an ultra-modern, downtown apartment with magnificent views of the Hudson River for no apparent reason.
Carrie eventually decides that the flat isn’t appropriate for her and returns to her small, but cozy Upper East Side digs. While the downtown pad is unlikely to be seen again, fans of the show are curious if it is real. After all, they are aware that Carrie Bradshaw’s original apartment building does, in fact, exist.
Carrie’s Apartment In ‘And Just Like That…’ Was A Set, With A Green Screen Backdrop
Fans who are enamored with Carrie’s downtown residence will be unable to walk past it. Carrie’s downtown condo isn’t genuine, according to an episode of And Just Like That… The Writers Room, the reboot’s official companion podcast.
The apartment’s interiors were constructed on a soundstage by the production team. King revealed that the multi-million dollar vista of the Hudson River was created using a green screen. In Manhattan, King continued, an apartment with that view and ultra-modern style simply did not exist.
The apartment may only exist in the thoughts of the cast and crew of And Just Like That…, but it’s simple to imagine where it might be if it were genuine. A famous condo building serves as the backdrop in the scene where Anthony Marantino and Carrie speak in their unit.
On West 11th Street, near the Hudson River, stands a pink skyscraper with unusual balconies. Given the circumstances, Carrie’s flat would most likely be located on the corner of Bethune and West in the West Village.
Carrie Bradshaw and Seema Patel Went To A Sari Shop, Which Is A Real Business
While the production team created Carrie Bradshaw’s residence, the Sari shop she visited with Seema Patel is unmistakably genuine. On the show’s companion podcast, Michael Patrick King mentioned that Carrie and Seema planned to buy saris in Queens at first.
After stumbling across a sari shop in SoHo, he completely transformed the environment.
While roaming around, King came upon AVE, Indian Design Collective. He admitted that he knew Carrie and Seem needed to go to the grocery. The owners were friendly and helpful, bringing on new production crew members. In SoHo, AVE is located on West Broadway.
Carrie’s Iconic ‘Sex and the City’ Apartment’s Interior Wasn’t Actually Real
Carrie’s iconic Brownstone indeed exists. However, it is not located where Carrie claimed to live. Throughout the span of Sex and the City, Carrie mentioned her address several times. According to the show, Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment was located at 245 East 73rd Street, making her an Upper East Side resident.
However, the actual Brownstone can be found on Perry Street in the West Village. However, the Perry Street exterior is not divided into small studios. Instead, the two Brownstones featured in Sex and the City have long been used as individual dwellings. They were constructed throughout the 1800s.
While the building’s façade is real, Carrie’s interior living quarters are not. The art department developed the studio apartment and built it on a soundstage. However, that makes a lot of sense. The size of Carrie’s closet seemed too fantastic to be true.
