Designer Christian Siriano held his Spring Summer 2021 New York Fashion Week show in Connecticut, of all places, poolside at his personal home! Attendees (socially distanced and wearing masks, of course) were treated to a backyard ball complete with comfy lounge chairs for seating and adorable picnic baskets as guests parting gifts.
Siriano’s show was one of the most anticipated of the season as his designs are a fan favorite, and you can always expect a good show from him! As we can see, he was a brilliant choice to close out New York FashionWeek this season. Sara Jessica Parker (the famed actress who played Carrie Bradshaw on HBO’s Sex and the City) provided shoes from her collection for the show. You’d think they were perfectly designed to match Christiano’s gowns as the hues perfectly complimented.
Well known for inclusion (from size to race and all creeds), Siriano’s plus size selection did not disappoint!
Almost every look was accessorized with a coordinating face mask, a vintage-inspired handbag, and a wide-brim hat.
While the entire collection was absolutely swoon-worthy, standouts were:
These pieces with a message encouraging watchers to get out and vote!
These blazer dresses with massive tulle skirts, which we speculate were possibly in an ode to the one and only Carrie Bradshaw (aka SJP).
This iconic gown (that oddly reminds me of the dancing salsa lady emoji) was then dunked into the pool with a pregnant Coco Rocha.
These gingham pieces, which I assume to be inspired by New York City’s recent obsession with picnics.
This collection (being the designers 37th) is another one for the books! What always comes to mind when viewing a Siriano design is “wearable art.” This collection can be described as wearable art and liveable art, moveable art – art you can dance in, picnic in, vote in, and even swim in!
