When fashionistas aren’t in Milan, London, or New York for runway shows, they go to south Florida for Miami Swim Week, which was last week, And, why not have a South Beach party that lasts a whole week in the middle of July? We can’t just wait until December to go to Art Basel.

Over 70 different swimwear designers showed off their newest lines, latest trends, and swimwear that was inclusive, diverse, and flashy at Miami Swim Week. With the help of the Alto car service, fashionistas went from one hotel party to the next. There were also a lot of models and influential people in town to celebrate, such as (JT Jatavia Shakara Johnson) of the rap duo City Girls, as well as Jacksonville-born rapper KaMillion (co-star of Issa Rae’s new HBO Max show Rap Sh!t), Danish supermodel Josephine Skriver, and Alabama Barker, daughter of Travis Barker.

Here are what you might have missed at Miami Swim Week 2022, from menswear inspired by video games to bikinis that look like mermaids.

Eliad Cohen Swimwear

Eliad Cohen is a model, party host, influential person, and menswear designer who lives in Miami. He just released a new line of colorful swimwear for men that is made in Spain. His pieces are sold in the Eliad Cohen store.

Some of his best works include the Game Over boxers, which have pastel cube patterns, and the Prism briefs, which look like graphics from video games.

Laura Monroy, a model and social media influencer from Colombia, launched her L.M. Swimwear line in Wynwood at a warehouse-turned-gym filled with black lights. It was one of the most creative and energetic shows. The models wore makeup with crystals and tribal touches that made them look like icons.

Some of the new bikinis in the tropical-themed line were hot pink, which fits in with the latest Barbiecore trend. The company website says that Monroy’s brand is based on empowering single women who are in charge of their own homes. All of her swimwear is made by women business owners in Colombia.

Kittenish by Jessie James Decker

Kittenish is a sexy brand that Jessie James Decker, a platinum-selling recording artist, singer-songwriter, and entrepreneur, came up with. This made swim week at PARAISO Miami Beach an exciting time for her. There were flirty sweet, and strong pieces on display.

Cindy Prado, Alexa Collins, Angele Babicz, Skyler Simpson, Kyler Green, and Leidy Amelia were among the models and influencers who wore Kittenish. Of course, country and pop songs were played during the runway show. Football player Eric Decker, model Joy Corrigan, and fashion blogger Katya Tolstova were among the people sitting in the front row.

Sports Illustrated Swim

Sports Illustrated magazine held its annual, much-hyped runway show at the W South Beach on Saturday night. Some of the best models in the business, including those from the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, wore swimwear in a high-energy show. One couple also walked the runway together: model Nicole Williams English and her husband, former NFL player Larry English.

Nicole Williams English told the crowd that she is expecting her first child. Denise Austin and her daughter Katie Austin, who are mother and daughter, walked down the runway hand in hand as they took the stage. Swimsuit models Jasmine Sanders, Camille Kostek, Brooks Nader, and Olivia Ponton were among the other models there.

PrettyLittleThings

This sexy women’s clothing brand showed off their new line with a star-studded runway show. Famous models wore their new line, which was full of rainbow colors. On their website, the brand says, “With a color palette of bright greens and vibrant prints to neutral stones and rich mocha tones, we are sure to have you earning some serious style points and feeling your most confident.”

Transgender star Tokyo Styles, model Marilyn Melo, and influencers Sierra Skye, Jayda Cheaves, and Sofia Jamora, are just some of the 18 models who walked the runway. Alabama Barker, Josephine Skriver, Terrance J, Draya Michele, Larsa and Sophia Pippen, Lisa Opie, and Candice were among the people in the front row.

Bikinilista

Bikinilista is a new bikini brand based in Milan that has a lot of different styles. In Miami, they showed off their new collection of 16 bikinis, some of which had Swarovski crystals on them.

Faisal Wahid, one of the co-founders of Bikinilista, said, “With the decline of the pandemic, and the rise of leisure travel worldwide, we’re thrilled to grow Bikinilista with the fashion world and offer beautiful yet comfortable fashion to millions of women.”

Liliana Montoya Swim

If you’re going to Tulum and want to look like a priceless mermaid on the beach, look no further. The latest swimwear collection from designer Liliana Montoya is all about sexy nude colors, gold bikinis, and knitwear with a touch of the divine. Her whole brand is based on mermaids, coral reefs, seaweed, and patterns that look like scales. Montoya says that the goal is to “make every woman feel beautiful and turn her into a mermaid” and to “bring the myth of mermaids to life.”

Normal Culture

Normal Culture is one of the newest and most popular swimwear brands. Its designs are fun, playful, and eclectic. Jelaminah, a model, actress, and entrepreneur who rose to fame on the Oxygen reality show Bad Girls Club in its 14th season, was the first person to start the brand in 2016. Since then, Normal Culture has become one of the most popular brands of swimwear that sets the latest trends.

It has a size chart that fits everyone, and all of its clothes are made in Los Angeles. They specialize in clothes for women who are 5’9″ and taller. This new season is all about animal prints, and the best part is that this is one of the few swimwear brands at the even that is actually affordable for the average working woman.

REISS London Pop Up at The Roof

The British womenswear brand REISS London, which is a favorite of Kate Middleton, held a pop-up shop on the rooftop of the hotel’s pool area. The hotel, Esmé Miami Beach, is known for its good design. The brand showed off their newest line of high-end swimwear and kaftans with prints.

Their GIA one-piece with a halter neck and emerald green color is classic and stylish. The hotel’s restaurant, El Salón, also hosted a Theme Dresser Pop Up.

Kelly Killoren Bensimon’s H.O.T. Bodies Dinner

Kelly Killoren Bensimon, a real estate mogul, former fashion editor, and book author, shook up Miami Beach with her event on the rooftop of the Kimpton Hotel Palomar. There were live musical performances, DJ sets, synchronized swimmers, and more at the event, which was put on by the famous fashion designer Melissa Odabash.

Bensimon took the party to the hotel’s restaurant, Osteria Morini, where the summer menu was unveiled.

Fun fact: Bensimon went to the very first Miami Swim Week and wrote the timeless book called The Bikini Book.
