Welcome to Fuzion Flow – my monthly edit of unearthed discoveries and new rituals that spark joy. In short, it’s everything worthy of your time, the season, and in style, of course. From indie finds to fitness gear to the best in tech, I’m eager to share what I’m getting into and loving.
Right now, wellness practices are absolutely essential. Our homes have become these multi-functional spaces that we never envisioned them becoming. Checking in with friends and family has become a part of our self-care. So, it has never been more necessary to find the small comforts that touch the five senses for an inside-out kind of wellness.
One thing that can help make these long days better is all the ways we can give ourselves some extra TLC in our daily rituals. And sorting through all of the new amazing brands can feel like a full-time job. From hard to get free weights to a game-changing Vitamin C shot and atypical podcast for auditory comfort, here are all my newest beauty and wellness goodie must-haves for your fall self-care arsenal.

The Nue Co. Skin Food + Prebiotic
I became hyper-focused on my skin’s health right about the time we started hearing about and fearing the offshore threat of a pandemic. Since then, many of us have learned how important it is to take care of ourselves from the inside-out, especially now that cold and flu season is here too. For me, part of that entailed protecting my largest organ: my skin. Skinfood isn’t something I hear much about within the Black community but I learned that this prebiotic is effective at debloating, maintaining my summer weight goals, and has me radiating from the inside-out. A daily teaspoon of this mixed into my smoothies was all I needed.

LivOn Labs Liposomal Vitamin C
Vitamin C has been one of the buzziest trends of the year. We know the importance of building up a strong immune system, and Vitamin C is one way we know can help protect us against novel coronavirus. Because COVID-19 hit my family particularly hard with seven people contracting the virus, and one succumbing to it, I hopped on the family wagon to boost my immune system. A friend put me onto LivOn Labs Vitamin C – a gel-like liposomal vitamin supplement designed for easy absorption in the bloodstream. This has become my morning ritual – one shot with some cold water. It has gone a long way to clearing up this congestion that was always lingering in my system and stopped my early morning sneezing fits I’ve had since childhood. Additionally, it also supports natural collagen production for youthful skin, healthy joints, gut lining, and muscles.

Synchronicity Full-Spectrum Hemp Body Oil
As my first introduction to the CBD world, this body oil has me open. I had no idea what to expect but can I say I love how luxurious it is to the touch so I said bye, bye to my regular lotion and made this a part of my self-care Sundays routine. It absorbs quickly into my skin leaving a nice glow without that heavy, greasy feeling. The whole hemp plant extract allows your skin to relax, so quite often I found myself falling asleep shortly after. You don’t even need a lot, a little goes such a long way. Even while applying it, I enjoy taking the deepest breaths of the soothing minty fragrance. It is super relaxing all around.

Molly Jones Standard Dose “Dumdrops”
Here is another CBD product that I added to my overall wellness routine. Everything about this month triggered my anxiety, so much so that my insomnia crept its way back. So, these lavender lemon sweet CBD gummies from Molly Jones became my go-to for a little bit of calm, and sleep. The lavender lemon flavor wasn’t as tart as I was afraid it would be but the gelatin-texture provided me with all the childhood feels of a regular gummy. Also, the beautiful packaging felt like a special delivery treat.

Natura Bissé C+C Vitamin Splash
When I found a body toning spray with Vitamin-C, I was like ‘yep, we’re doing this,’ and I am glad I did. I’ve been spritzing randomly throughout the day just to enjoy the scent-sation, especially before a Zoom call. It’s a combination of citrus, rosemary, mint, and lavender rose that really actually works together. My skin gets a hydration boost with a topical Vitamin-C added just in time for the change in season. It has been a welcome additive in my new Zoom routine. It’s a smell that wakes up the senses that has helped me set the tone for a positive and productive meeting.

Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil
My time away from the salon wreaked havoc on my hair, so protective styles and strengthening was a must. I am someone who only took minimal care of my hair pre-pandemic and with the re-opening of salons, my hair stylist was in search of something I can do to repair my weakened hair: enter Olaplex No.7 Bonding Oil. This hair oil leaves my hair looking shiny and healthy again. I use it after every wash and a couple of nights per week in my nightly hair care routine.

Bala Bangles
These Bala weights have been a great (and chic) way to add an extra challenge to my at-home and outdoor workouts. During quarantine, I was looking for something to add a little extra resistance to my CKO cardio kickboxing class as I was struggling without a punching bag, and these weights did the trick. Adding two pounds to my ankles and wrists while I throw punches and kicks takes each workout up a notch, engaging my muscles and toning with each move. They are travel-friendly, easy to clean, and fashionable too!

St. John Face Masks
Face masks are part of our new normal and without one, you can’t go anywhere. As someone who suffers from asthma, breathability trumps about everything except… maybe style. There were so many face mask articles but no one spoke to my specific health concern and vanity criteria. Enter St. John. Growing up, I remember passing St. John in the mall and thinking this is a brand for older people, so when their face masks popped up on my radar I took another look at this storied brand. Their contouring face masks are available in pique, tweed, and silk and lurex fabrics, and allow me to breathe with ease. Also, they do not fog up my sunnies when I’m out. They also don’t feel hot or collect moisture. I loved my first mask so much, I’ve added a few more to my collection.

Julep Super-Size Take A Breather Oxygen Nail Treatment
This treatment is working magic on my nails. I went into lockdown with a fresh gel mani and strong nails – literally two days before the shutdown. Three weeks before the salons reopened, seven out of ten nails had broken or cracked. My nails were short and weak. This sheer pink polish formula contains nail-boosting Hexanal, anti-aging plant cells, and a protective UV filter for healthy nail growth. It lasts about three days before it starts looking unkempt, so you’ll need to reapply twice a week – at least it’s a quick-drying formula. I am loving being able to clicky-clack on my keyboard again because of my nails’ new growth and strength.

Earth Therapeutics Anti-Aging Retinol Hand Mask
I was always someone who washed their hands a lot, but these days I swear I hear Dr. Fauci’s voice telling me to wash my hands every time I leave the house. The constant washing left my hands super dry and tired looking, so finding a good moisturizer was key. I was excited when I saw this product in Kohl’s since it contains shea butter, lavender, and retinol. It’s designed to hydrate and give hands a youthful appearance. I have been using it all month between manicures, and it is really as good as it sounds. My hands stay hydrated and look even younger. Waving at ya with my clean, healthy hands!

The Joe Budden Podcast with Rory & Mal
I’m not sure when, or how, this happened but Joe Budden’s podcast quite literally has become an unconventional part of my wellness routine. It’s become a familiar auditory voice that I notice when it’s missing, especially now with this Spotify break. It’s the perfect mix of relatable conversation and the latest hits, and reminiscent of more carefree times. I listen to an episode most mornings and it really pumps me up, or throughout the day when I’m in a rut.
