Supportive stans and music moguls alike gathered Wednesday evening at Engine Room Audio in the Financial District (making money moves) to celebrate the impending release of Nya Lee’s debut album, So Special. The robust album, which boasts 17 energetic tracks, will be released Friday, November 8. With bops like “Old Money” and “Wet” (the album’s single), Nya Lee’s debut album is full of “work hard, play hard” anthems!

When asked about how she wants her listeners to feel when they hear So Special, Nya says, “Confident no matter what situation!” This energy definitely resonates in some of her personal favorite songs off the album, “Bout Dat Life” and “Real One” in which she details the components of her “bad b*tch attitude.”

In terms of visuals, we know that Nya always hits us with fashionable looks and creative video shoots. When asked about the visuals on this project, Nya said: “We’re creating tons of new visuals and working with directors that can capture my essence.”

What an essence to capture! When it was time to turn up, no one could resist Nya’s infectious vibes and upbeat attitude. Her stage presence and ability to be comfortable with anyone in the room was evident. The packed listening party including close friends, members of Nya’s team including her manager and her executive producer on a new reality series she is working on (spoiler alert)! In a room full of support and love, Nya couldn’t be bothered with the supposed haters. “I don’t see them. I only see my supporters.”

With such a wealth of music and visuals, Nya feels that this album is the one to pack a punch and truly catapult her into her hard-earned spotlight. “This project is special to me because I feel like I have finally reached my peak as an artist.”
