Los Angles- Bill Porter Has Overcame a Lot in His Career and On Sunday He Became The First Openly Gay Man To Win An Emmy For Best Actor In A Drama Role.

Porter won the category for his role in Pose and he was very emotional when he gave his speech. “The category is love,” said Porter “I’m so overjoyed to have lived long enough to see this day.”

“It is proof positive that authenticity always wins no matter how long it takes. Believe in yourself. Choose yourself. Bank on yourself. And muck the rest of it. The world will catch up,” he said. “Stay true to who you are even when everyone in the world is telling you not to.”

Porter had told many people before the show went live that dreams do happen and you have to understand that everything happens for a reason and you have to understand what you bring to the table.

Winning this award has open many doors for people that look at Porter as a person who has inspired them and motivated them to be the person that they want to be, as well as holding themselves to a higher expectation of how they view themselves and not how society views them.
