CZAR by Cesar Galindo Fall/Winter 2014 Presentation was held at the The Hub at The Hudson Hotel in New York City. The energy was high with industry heavy hitters and press. The pieces were outstanding, the designer mixed high fashion with an active and comfortable feel. In the collection we saw graphic prints and structural jackets and dresses. He used a mix of cool and warm tones in his designs, specifically, we saw lots of gray, rich purple, hints of orange and toasted reds. The jewelry was extravagant yet still very tasteful.
The makeup was inspired by fire and smoke, a representation of the modern day woman that represents “power and strength”. diffused warm colors blended on the lips and cheek with the eyes being the focus. The key products used were warm tone eye shadows in gold, brown and plum. The lips were a beautiful ombre’ with pops of gold in the center. The makeup team was lead by Ashunta Sheriff (and sponsored by Mary Kay) who has worked with the designer for 7 years, explained that Cesar feels like women have to transition all day long. They go from career moments to friends to party. The makeup translated perfectly as this smokey eye because of the tones can be worn both day and night.
Celebrity hair stylist, Janelle Chaplin created a sci-fi look using blue paint to create a look on the models “as if they lived 20 years from now and has been dropped into this world.” The models all had their hair slick back which accentuated the cheek bone and further adding to a mysterious yet rather sexy modern woman.
